Three Ways to Finish 2026 Strong and Build What Matters Most in 2027

Finish Strong. Focus Forward. Build What Matters Most.

Business leader brainstorming with her employee

Your business is growing. But is it giving you the success you envisioned?

As we head into the final two months of 2026, it's a question worth asking.

For many business owners, this is the season for reviewing financial results, setting revenue goals, and mapping out plans for the year ahead.

All important. But before adding more goals, initiatives, and commitments to your plate, what if you took a closer look at what you've already built?

Throughout October, I've been exploring four words that invite us to do just that:

  • Recalibrate: Are you still headed in the right direction?
  • Rebalance: Are you giving enough attention to what matters most?
  • Revise: What needs to change to better reflect who you are and what you want?
  • Refine: What's already working that could work even better?

Four simple words. Four opportunities to make thoughtful adjustments that can have a meaningful impact on your business—and your life.

Here's something I've learned from working with business owners over the years: The most powerful changes don't always come from doing more. Often, they come from making better decisions about what matters most.

That's the thinking behind my new 2027 Business Launchpad, a year-end strategic planning opportunity offering three options. You choose the private experience that best fits your business, your priorities, and the decisions you're facing as you prepare for 2027.

But first, let's look at how these four words have played out for some of the business owners I've worked with.

Recalibrate: Make Room for What Matters Next

Sometimes the biggest obstacle to growth isn't a lack of opportunity. It's a lack of capacity.

Consider Heather and Denny. Over more than a decade, this husband-and-wife team grew their signage company from a small operation into a substantial business with a talented team, strong margins, and a solid reputation.

Then an exciting opportunity emerged: a new product line with significant growth potential.

There was just one problem. Their existing business was perpetually one employee short of giving them the time and mental capacity to pursue it well. They kept telling themselves they'd hire someone later.

But later came with risks: compromising their reputation, losing focus on their existing business, or slipping back into the exhausting work patterns they'd worked so hard to escape.

So they recalibrated. They made a strategic hire, streamlined responsibilities, and eliminated commitments that no longer served them.

The result? They reclaimed more than 20 hours a week.

With that breathing room, they completed the necessary training, successfully launched a pilot project, and turned that first project into a series of referrals.

And perhaps the biggest win was what didn't happen. They created room for growth without sacrificing the life and marriage they'd worked hard to protect.

That's the power of recalibration. Sometimes moving forward isn't about adding more. It's about making room for what matters next.

Rebalance: Make Sure Your Life Gets Its Share

Of course, creating capacity is only part of the equation. We also need to be intentional about how we use it.

Richard and Barb discovered that firsthand. Before launching their accounting and tax planning business, this husband-and-wife team bonded over running marathons and hiking in the mountains. Their business took off faster than expected. They attracted major clients, built a talented team, and moved into a larger office.

By most measures, they were successful. But somewhere along the way, their business began crowding out their life.

Their running shoes gathered dust. Date nights became business troubleshooting sessions. Weekend getaways were perpetually postponed. They were building a successful business but losing touch with the life they'd wanted it to support.

Together, we worked on redefining priorities, delegating more effectively, and establishing healthier boundaries around their workday.

Today, they're running again, cooking dinner together, and scheduling short trips like they used to. And their business continues to thrive.

Rebalancing isn't about giving your business less of what it needs. It's about making sure your life gets more of what matters.

Revise: Give Yourself Permission to Be Yourself

Sometimes the changes we need aren't about time, capacity, or even strategy.

They're about alignment.

Nancy spent years in corporate leadership roles, consulting with executives on strategy, collaboration, and project management. When she launched her own consulting practice, she brought along her expertise, experience, and professional reputation.

But she also brought something else: a formal corporate persona that no longer reflected who she was. Her language was buttoned-up. Her professional image felt overly formal. Even the way she interacted with clients felt more like the corporate world she'd left behind than the business she wanted to build.

And frankly, it was draining her energy. So Nancy began making small but intentional revisions.

She brought more of her natural warmth, core values, and leadership philosophy into her client relationships. She adopted a more genuine, collaborative communication style. Even her wardrobe began reflecting her personality rather than her former corporate identity.

The shift was remarkable. Her relationships became more energizing. She attracted clients who appreciated her approach and valued her expertise. And she rediscovered the satisfaction she'd hoped to experience when she launched her business.

Nancy didn't need to reinvent herself. She needed to give herself permission to be herself.

Sometimes small revisions create big shifts.

Refine: Make What's Already Working Work Even Better

That brings us to our final word: Refine.

As business owners, we're often drawn to the next big idea, the next opportunity, or the next growth initiative. But what if your greatest opportunity is already right in front of you?

That's what John discovered.

After a successful career in software sales, John became a financial advisor. He had the skills, passion, and genuine desire to help clients preserve their wealth and build a lasting legacy. But something wasn't clicking.

His direct, fast-paced communication style wasn't connecting well with his older clients. His capable team was experiencing unnecessary friction. Important details were slipping through the cracks. And he knew his marketing and sales processes could work harder for him.

Rather than launching another initiative, we set aside a full day to work on his business.

We focused on three strategic priorities.

First, John learned to adapt his communication style, ask better questions, and listen more carefully. He also began slowing down enough to coach and develop his team.

Next, we mapped the client onboarding experience, uncovering gaps and overlapping responsibilities that were creating unnecessary confusion.

Finally, we identified opportunities to strengthen his marketing and sales processes without sacrificing the personal touch his clients valued.

The results?

Stronger client relationships. A more capable team. A steady stream of referrals. And a business that became more efficient while maintaining exceptional service.

John didn't need a different business. He needed a clearer picture of what was holding this one back—and a practical plan to move forward.

That's the power of refinement.

From Reflection to Action: Your 2027 Business Launchpad

Four words. Four different situations. And one common thread.

Each of these business owners made intentional decisions that helped them build a business better aligned with their goals, values, and vision for their lives.

They didn't need to work harder. They needed the space to step away from daily demands, see their business from a different perspective, and decide what deserved their attention next.

That's something I believe every business owner can benefit from, especially as one year draws to a close and another approaches. But there's a difference between recognizing what needs to change and actually making it happen.

That's why I've created the 2027 Business Launchpad.

It's a focused opportunity to step away from the day-to-day, take stock of where you are, and make intentional decisions about where you want to go next.

There are three options to choose from, depending on how much strategic work you want to accomplish and the level of support that would serve you best.

You don't need to do all three. Simply choose the experience that fits your current situation.

Option 1: VIP Experience — Build Your Roadmap for 2027

Full-day private strategic planning experience | $2,695

For the business owner who's ready to step away from the day-to-day and take a comprehensive look at where the business stands, where it's headed, and what it will take to get there.

We'll examine your current reality, clarify your vision, identify opportunities and obstacles, and develop a strategic roadmap for the first two quarters of 2027.

This experience includes a preparation call, a full day reserved for strategic work, a Q1–Q2 roadmap, a scorecard to track progress, and two 60-minute follow-up coaching sessions to help you maintain momentum.

You'll leave with more than ideas. You'll have a practical plan and accountability to help turn your priorities into results.

Option 2: Half-Day Intensive — Focus on What Matters Most

Four-hour private strategic planning experience | $1,395

Perhaps you already have a clear vision, but one or two important priorities need focused attention.

Maybe it's strengthening your leadership team, improving profitability, simplifying operations, or preparing for a new phase of growth.

The Half-Day Intensive gives us dedicated time to dig into those priorities, evaluate your options, and create a focused 90-day roadmap.

You'll receive a scorecard to measure progress and a 60-minute follow-up coaching session to help you put your plan into action.

The goal isn't to tackle everything. It's to make meaningful progress on the things that will make the biggest difference.

Option 3: Strategy Session — Get Clarity on Your Next Move

Two-hour private strategy experience | $695

Sometimes you don't need a comprehensive plan. You need clarity around one important decision, challenge, or opportunity.

Perhaps you're considering a key hire, evaluating a new offering, navigating a business transition, or wrestling with a decision you've been putting off.

We'll work through the situation together, examine your options, and identify the most practical path forward.

You'll leave with a concise action summary, three clear next steps, and a 30-minute follow-up check-in to support your progress.

It's a focused opportunity to get unstuck and move forward with greater clarity.

Finish Strong. Focus Forward. Build What Matters Most.

Why sustainable business growth rarely comes from working harder
By Kathleen Winsor-Games • June 2, 2026
Yesterday, I was watching one of my favorite shows when a Snickers commercial came on. You know the one: You’re not yourself when you’re "hangry.” Hungry and angry is a rough combination for most people. But it got me thinking about something I see far too often with entrepreneurs and business owners: people becoming what I jokingly call “strangry” — stressed and angry — because the very business they built for freedom is now consuming their lives. Most business owners did not leave traditional employment dreaming of burnout. They wanted: freedom, flexibility, purpose, impact, and financial independence. They wanted to build something meaningful and create a better quality of life. But somewhere along the way, many entrepreneurs wake up realizing the business is running them instead of the other way around. The nonstop decision-making. The constant firefighting. The pressure of carrying everything. The exhaustion disguised as ambition. Eventually, success no longer feels very successful. What I’ve discovered after years of working as a Business Coach in Denver, CO with entrepreneurs and leadership teams is that the issue usually is not capability. It is misalignment. Misalignment between: strengths and responsibilities, values and decisions, vision and daily operations, business growth and quality of life. The good news is this: Alignment can be rebuilt intentionally. Here are six steps that help business owners move from exhausted and reactive to aligned and sustainable. Step 1: Recognize the Signs of Misalignment Most business owners do not wake up one day and suddenly think: “I feel misaligned.” It usually happens gradually. Over time, daily demands begin consuming more energy than the work that actually creates value. Business owners become buried in operational pressure, constant decisions, reactive problem-solving, and low-level tasks. The business grows. The responsibilities grow. But slowly, they drift further away from the work most aligned with their strengths, leadership, and Pinnacle Gift™. At first, many entrepreneurs simply push harder. Until eventually they feel: overwhelmed, exhausted, underpaid for the level of responsibility they carry, and disconnected from the original vision they once felt passionate about. Awareness is the first breakthrough. Because you cannot realign a business you have not honestly evaluated.

I’ve been having a lot of conversations lately that start the same way: “That quarter flew by. I was busy the whole time—but I’m not where I thought I’d be.” Sometimes it’s said with a laugh. Sometimes with a sigh. If you’ve felt that way, you’re not alone. I often see people finish a busy period—quarter, season, or month—and immediately dive into the next without pausing. Same pace. Same habits. Same to-do list… just longer. And then we hope this next stretch somehow feels different. But what actually creates momentum isn’t doing more. It’s seeing—and leading—differently. Here are six key shifts to help you build lasting momentum and clarity.
